Bart Flener is in his 6th year as the GRREC (Green River Regional Educational Cooperative) CEO. He is in his 32nd year as an educator in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, with experiences as a social studies teacher, health and physical education teacher, bus driver and transportation director, assistant principal, high school principal, district instructional coordinator, and assistant superintendent.

Before coming to GRREC in 2020, he served as the Russellville Independent Schools Superintendent from 2017-2020. During his educational career, athletics has been a constant as well. He has been a head coach for 27 teams (boys high school basketball, collegiate womens’ basketball, high school soccer, and high school tennis). He has degrees from the University of Kentucky, Georgia College, and Western Kentucky University.

He and his wife Candace reside in Alvaton, KY and they have three children, Zach, Embrey, and Avery.  His hobbies include reading, traveling and all things sports, including serving as a KHSAA official in volleyball and basketball.
