Kara is a Professional Learning Specialist for Literacy at EPIC who supports educators across Kentucky to strengthen instruction, implement curriculum with integrity, and increase student outcomes. She brings fifteen years in education across roles that include K–5 ELA teacher, elementary intervention coach, and high school curriculum coach. She designs and facilitates professional learning, leads PLCs, and presents at statewide conferences such as the Kentucky Reading Association. Her district work includes guiding curriculum mapping, data-driven instruction, and literacy-focused school improvement with a focus on high-quality instructional resources.

Kara holds a BS in Elementary and Special Education from Murray State, an MS as a Literacy Specialist, and an Ed.S. in Instructional Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands. She serves on the board of the Kentucky Reading Association, partnering with state leaders to advance the Science of Reading and practical, evidence-based instruction. Her coaching is strengths-based, responsive, and grounded in trust, whether modeling lessons, facilitating PLCs, or leading full-day trainings. Outside of work she enjoys time with family and friends racing, camping, and boating; fun fact, she was a welder before teaching and once drove a race car. Whether at the track or in a school, Kara brings energy, connection, and a fierce dedication to helping others grow.
